Pioneers Golf Course, established on April 12, 1930, holds the distinction of being the oldest public golf course in Lincoln, Nebraska, and the surrounding region. Originally designed by golf architect William Tucker, the course was built for just $1,500 and featured 27 holes, with grass greens planted in August 1934. John Peterson became the course’s first golf professional in the same year. Today, Pioneers Golf Course is an 18-hole layout set across a gradual hill, with its beautiful clubhouse perched at the top, offering panoramic views of the course. Known for its unique design, Pioneers remains true to its original vision by not including any sand bunkers on the course.
