Are you interested in getting your kids or grandkids excited about golf and learning how to play the game? Well then, you have to read this!
As a golf instructor who taught over 300 juniors last season how to play the game of golf, I believe that golf is a lifetime sport. Any age is a good age to learn, but the ages of 5-14 are perfect for a junior to learn golf in a safe and fun environment. Set no expectations with the youngster other than to encourage and have fun.
A place like Jim Ager Golf Course allows you to maximize the fun factor for them with playing shorter Par 3 holes to get them started playing on a real course. I like to think of Jim Ager Golf Course as the “Home of Junior Golf.” For kids, there is no better place. To put it another way – the first step in teaching kids golf is to get them to think that golf is fun. Kids want to have fun, and they see things that adults or people do on TV. Junior Summer Camps, Teen Golf Leagues, Team Golf, and Junior Golf Leagues are part of that fun! Plus, they learn how to swing the club and play golf with other people. Bottom line is that it must be fun for them to like golf!
The City of Lincoln golf courses have numerous programs for juniors and teens all summer long, and now is the time to get registered. One of the new programs for juniors is TEAM GOLF, which puts together 9 youngsters on a team with jerseys, practices and team events (similar to basketball or soccer teams)- all the while having fun learning golf together as a team!
More information on our juniors and teens programs can be found on our Lincoln City Golf page.
