As the oldest public course in Lincoln, Nebraska and the surrounding states. Pioneers Golf Course was built April 12th, 1930. Originally 27 holes built by golf architecture William Tucker for the cost of $1,500, the layout is spread across a gradual hill that the beautiful clubhouse sits atop. Now just an 18-hole course, it has become one of, if not, the most popular course in the area. The course is quite unique and has stayed traditional to its intent with no sand bunkers on the holes. Twelve years in a row Pioneers Golf Course has led the courses in Lincoln with the number of rounds played. We want to take this opportunity to thank all our players for getting us to that accomplishment and encourage golfers that have not played the course to come experience an historic piece of golf property!

S. Coddington Avenue & W. Van Dorn Street Safety Improvement Project
Updated April 2018
The project will replace the intersection with a single-lane roundabout to reduce vehicle crashes. The project includes the phased construction of new concrete pavement, trails, sidewalks and box culvert extensions, installation of a new storm drainage system and new signage, pavement markings and street lighting.
The phasing will allow at least three legs of the intersection will remain open during construction. Drivers should expect single-lane closures and detour routes will be posted at the site. Construction began April 24, 2017 and is scheduled to be completed by June 2018.
Access to adjacent businesses and residents will be maintained at all times and no known access restrictions are anticipated during construction. Access will be coordinated with the property owners throughout construction. Businesses and residents with multiple entrances will have one entrance open at all times, unless otherwise agreed to by the property owner. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Construction is scheduled to begin April 24, 2017 and be completed in June of 2018. There are four designated phases. Each phase will have a suggested detour.
Detour routes have been planned for each phase of the project.
It is expected that the third phase will affect access to the Pioneers Golf Course the most. That detour will redirect intersection traffic to drive north on S. Coddington to W. “A” Street west. Turn west on W. “A” St to SW 40th St. Turn east on W. Van Dorn from SW 40th St. The course will be on the south side.
